World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already have. This can be done at any item upgrader NPC.
Upgrades can boost the stats of an item and add extras depending on its type. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB sorcs or Goldwrap for caster builds.
Armour
Armour is among the most important factors that keep Link protected from injury in most situations. While it can't be upgraded like weapons, it is able to be improved in different ways to increase its defence capabilities.
Armour is designed to protect people or animals from harm or injury, whether it's from a direct physical attack or a variety of hazards posed by the environment or activities. In the past, armour was primarily constructed from leather or fabric however later, metal protections were also used, especially in military applications like heavy cavalry or combat drones.
Like weapons there are a variety of ways that armor can be upgraded, however, most of them will require a visit to one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain has a unique degree of upgrades available with higher levels of upgrades granting higher levels of protection, but require a higher price in rupees and other materials to unlock.
The first thing to note about Armor Upgrades is that they are permanent upgrades which means that once they've been applied they cannot be replaced unless there is another piece of equipment with the same upgrade. You should only apply the most powerful upgrades to your equipment and make sure that you have the equipment needed to complete them.
When it comes to acquiring the necessary upgrade components you'll find them in a variety of places around Hyrule including shrines, merchants, and even enemies. They'll usually be identified with an gold circle or blue triangle symbol and can be found in large numbers as you advance through the game. While they may appear randomly, there's the possibility that acquiring certain upgrade components will lead to quests that reward you with more.
It's also worth noting that, even though the level of protection offered by each upgrade is different, it is the same for all upgrades and will always be superior to nothing. This is due to the fact that a full set of upgraded armour will give you a significant defense boost, which will shield you from all kinds of attacks, except magic which makes it a very effective weapon for any class.
Weapons
You can upgrade your guns by using special upgrades that make them unique. They can increase the damage, alter the weapon's stats in order to adapt to your specific build, and even unlock new attachments, such as unique ammo types, enchantments and more aesthetic options.
To upgrade a weapon, you'll need to have an upgrade component ready as well as the item itself. item upgrades should also be at a certain level for the upgrade to be effective and most weapons only accept one upgrade at a time.
You can find weapons upgrade components scattered across the world and from the hands of enemies and can be bought from a merchant. The upgrade components themselves are a mix of ingredients that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools to grant an attribute bonus or additional effect when they are in use. The equipment must be at a certain level to accept the upgrade. It can be upgraded the same way as other items.
Upgrades are a mixture of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They are used to enhance the effectiveness of weapons and improve their ability to scale with other stats. They can be found among enemies who drop them in the open world, bought from certain vendors or through drops during combat.
Two NPCs can enhance your weapon: Blacksmith Hewg, located in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji, in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs will accept your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon as well as an enhancement.
It's essential to prioritize upgrading your best-in-slot items first, then those you won't be replacing soon. If you're playing a melee build, for example upgrade your weapon first, then your chest and shoulders, then your feet and hands. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. However, based on the style you play, certain specific items are more beneficial than others. The same goes for Armour Reforges, with certain types being better than others.
Magic Items
A character is able to upgrade only one magic item at one time. If an upgrade project is canceled, no further upgrades will be made for the item. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to create or purchase, however they may offer additional benefits.
A magical item is an item with special properties or effects. These items are mostly weapons, but they could also be armors, shields or cloaks as well as potions. They can also be scrolls, rings or other items. Some of these items may be converted into a sentient.
Many magic items can have their abilities enhanced. This can make them more useful to a player, or it could help them conquer a particularly challenging encounter. An infused weapon might provide bonuses to damage against a particular type of enemy, for instance. This is particularly useful for those who have reached the point that they're likely to face one type of monster repeatedly in the dungeons.
A ring infused with magic might provide immunity to nonmagical attacks that bludgeon, pierce or cut (excluding silver-based attacks) until the character gets another long rest. This can be particularly helpful for melee fighters, or any character who wishes to save the cost and hassle of purchasing a shield.
Some enchanted objects have special powers which allow the character to cast spells that are not on their list of classes. This is beneficial for those who are having trouble filling their spell slots due to multiclassing. These magical objects require an Intelligence check (Arcana), and the spell is determined by rolling a table that is based on the number of Intelligence points spent.
Other enchanted items might allow the player to change their appearance, or create a completely new appearance. These items can be especially beneficial for characters who are forced to leave their home or in a place in which they are not welcomed. A magical item can provide them with invisibility or make them invisible to everyone, except for the chosen person.
Utility Items
Utility items are those that don't fall into the categories of Armor, Clothing or Weapons, and provide various capabilities. Unlike Armor and Weapons and Clothing, no utility item can conflict with another. Most utility items come with a passive effect that players can activate while using them. Some have additional abilities which are activated by pressing a button or activating a skill.
The Flashlight is the most popular utility item. It is used to illuminate the area around it. Other items that are useful include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player float in mid-air while moving and the Jetpack that allows the player to accelerate in any directions when on the ground. In the Engineering section you can create instantly a variety of useful items, while others are available only through Research projects or experimental projects on the Proving Ground.
In addition to the items that are available in the normal inventory, players can also obtain additional useful items of utility by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Some of these items can be upgraded to allow greater effectiveness.
The majority of utilitarian items provide the player with a navigational advantage or increase the ability to fight. Sharpening stones, made by an Weaponsmith, increase Power and Ferocity while Maintenance Oils, made by an Huntsman can increase concentration and healing power. Other items of utility like Writs and Theses created by the Scribe, can be used to give the player either an increase in Damage or Condition Damage.
XCOM soldiers can equip a single accessory item to start the campaign. An additional slot is available once you have completed certain research, engineering or experimental projects on the Proving Ground. During the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are made available by equipping the Grenade Launcher which allows players to equip an Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot while an offensive grenade can be placed in the main grenade slot.
